Lenape Trail Marker Honored At Drumthwacket NJ

On November 23, 2025, a Lenape Trail marker was formally recognized during a gathering at Drumthwacket in Princeton, underscoring the growing effort to restore public awareness of Indigenous history in New Jersey. The event emphasized the importance of historical stewardship and collaborative preservation across communities and institutions.

The marker was officially installed on December 15, 2025 at the Middletown Train Station, with Tony Perry in attendance. The installation marked a tangible step in reconnecting present day landscapes with Lenape pathways that once shaped movement, trade, and cultural exchange across the region.

Later that day, a dedication ceremony was held at the Middletown Arts Center. Speakers and honorees included Marc Gottwerth, Mayor Perry, Julie Diddell, Rick Geffken, Claire Garland, and Frank Gerard.
